The J Man writes... I reckon it's unauthorised yeh. well if it was, you would think it would have been earlier so as to not as many people off. |

We get fireworks at the oval near us, but never that late, I'd be phoning the cops. Some people I know in Canberra where you can still apparently buy fireworks legally, have neighbours and other residents letting them off at all times and dates, they call the cops cos it just sets all the dogs barking and wakes the kids etc. |

Suffer. You live in a City. Cities are like that, or should be. You want peace and quiet? Move to the country. |

You can't legally buy fireworks in Canberra any longer. That's not to say you can't buy them, some bastards can. Thank you for waking us up you bastards. |

Used to be able to get a work cover authority license for a night of fireworks here (had to let both neighbours know the date etc) for $8 and you had to let the fire brigade know. That was about 10 years ago though. It's changed somewhat: Single use fireworks licence Single use fireworks licences will only be issued for a legitimate reason such as an organised public display that is open to the public. The display must be organised by a community or private organisation for a show, fete, carnival, cultural, religious or sporting event. Single use fireworks licences may be issued for up to three organised public events per year. You will need to discuss your requirements with the supplier before applying for the licence. You must ensure you receive instruction in the safe use of the fireworks from the supplier. The Guide to Obtaining a Fireworks (single use) Licence provides more information. WorkCover will not issue a licence unless you can demonstrate that you have notified the police, fire brigades and local council as well as any other relevant agencies. The cost is $50 (GST free). Call 13 10 50 for more information about fireworks. |

bolder writes... Can you still order them on line? Not according to Border patrol, or one of those shows, they are dangerous to transport and are usually seized at the mail sorting centre. I think you get a fine too. |

The best way is to stop a truck coming down the Hume Hwy. you just have to know which one to stop. |
